Fall Reading Binge

It's no secret I read a lot, but what you might not know is that I tend to binge-read over short periods of time. I might go a month without reading more than a news headline, and then life slows down for a second and I devour six books in five days.

Some might say books are my addiction (like the Hubs) but I say they offer a way for my mind to tune out the chaos of daily living and offer a mini-vacation for my soul. How do you see it?

A smattering of books I've read recently:

Falling Into You (Falling, #1)Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Superb... heart-wrenching, tragic, redemptive, poetic, and extremely well written. And it's steamy. What more could you ask for in a novel? If you like your romance with a bit of dark and twisty, this book is for you. And even if you normally go for something lighter, don't pass this book up. I promise, you won't regret it!

The Shoppe of SpellsThe Shoppe of Spells by Shanon Grey

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a very creative, well-written novel with an interesting premise. In fact, it's one of the more creative and original ones that I've read in a while. I loved the magic / otherwordly aspect of it, the suspense kept me up way past my bed time and the central romance was electrifying ;-) Def. a recommended read!

Easy Bake Coven (Easy Bake Coven, #1)Easy Bake Coven by Liz Schulte

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great book-- fun to read, witty and complex. I loved the characters and how they all interacted. The magic elements are well done and inventive, and our heroine Selene can do some seriously cool stuff. The spice level is well-done and loved how the star-crossed history kept being revealed in bits and pieces. A great introduction to a newer paranormal series and to the author. I will be snagging book two this weekend, and check out Schulte's other works shortly too!

Hex and the Single Witch (Vehicle City Vampires #1)Hex and the Single Witch by Roxanne Rhoads

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hex and the Single Witch is a steamy, compelling paranormal / Urban fantasy. I enjoyed the setting, cast of interesting characters and, of course, the heat level. The "world" Ms. Rhoads has created is one full of magic and Otherworldly creatures, which live along side the normal humans-- so someone has to bridge the divide and try to keep the peace by being part of an elite police unit. And that someone is a witch with limited abilities (or so it may seem), a saucy best friend and Magic-Tech-nerd, an always-flirting partner and a make-you-melt Vamp with a sorrid past. Throw in a few randy hexes and you've got yourself all the trappings for a page turner.

Can't wait to read book two in the series!
