From my Reading List

I'm on a self-admitted reading binge right now. Something about this time of year makes me want to curl up on the couch with a downy quilt and a stack of books. So much so that I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for the days when an actual stack of books sat on my bedside table just waiting for me.

At any rate, here's what I've been devouring over the last few days!

Death's HandDeath's Hand by S. M. Reine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A compelling novel, with tight writing, crisp action and cutting originality. I love the paranormal aspects of it and the cast of characters is lively. Will read more by this author!

Dirty Blood (Dirty Blood, #1)Dirty Blood by Heather Hildenbrand

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Quirky and interesting YA paranormal. Well, written with enough mystery to keep you reading. Solid start to a series and I'll go on to read the next book most likely.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story collection is a wonderful glimpse into the author's writing style. I found the stories wholly original, perfectly executed, and fabulously inventive. I will certainly seek out longer works by this author!

A Job From Hell (Ancient Legends, #1)A Job From Hell by Jayde Scott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There are several things I adored about this novel...

The word-building between the different factions was so much fun to delve into. The premise of the game was unique and compelling. I loved several of the characters: the unwitting brother (reminded me of Zander from Buffy), the daughter of the Devil, the creepy woman child, oh, and so much more.

I wasn't as enamored by the Vamps, and didn't quite "get" the love connection made, but overall it wasn't enough to overshadow the rest of the book's redeeming qualities. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!
